Join Urban Forestry at this Sunday Parkways event to help share info and promote Urban Forestry's free tree planting and care programs.
Celebrate community in beautiful East Portland while helping Urban Forestry grow our city's canopy! Volunteers will share information about our free programs to the public, like our Trees for Residential Streets program (which is currently open for registration) and help people submit interest forms for our popular Free Yard Tree Giveaway events that occur every fall. Share your love of trees with folks curious about getting free trees! We'll provide a short training on the Yard Tree Giveaway program and education materials you can use to get people excited about trees.
We will be meeting at Ventura Park.
Each shift lasts 2.5 hours, so you'll have plenty of time before/after your shift to enjoy the celebration.
This multi modal event route is designed to highlight the network of neighborhood greenways and other infrastructure, parks, and community resources. There will be slow areas along the route for vendor marketplaces, community booths, free family-friendly activities, and live entertainment. The East Portland 4-mile out-and-back route will feature Ventura Park, Lincoln Park, Parklane Park, and, for the very first time this year, Verdell Burdine Rutherford Park as a new addition to the East route in collaboration with the Centennial School District and the City of Gresham.
