International Rose Test Garden Volunteers Orientation in Washington Park

Description

Do you love roses and wish to offer some time at Portland’s premier public rose garden?! We’d love to have you join our team!

Volunteers provide services year-round to help tend and care for the roses. Tasks vary depending on the season, May through October volunteers spend most of their time deadheading spent flowers. 

We currently host volunteers in the garden Monday through Thursday, note the later start time on Wednesdays. 

  • Mondays 7:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Tuesdays 7:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Wednesdays 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Thursdays 7:00 am to 2:00 pm

What to expect

During the orientation volunteers will learn the overall operations of the volunteer program, training on how to deadhead, and how to identify weedy plants and properly remove them. After the training volunteers will participate in a 45-minute garden tour to learn about the history of the site. 

  • Parking passes will be provided, check in at the meeting location to get your pass. 
  • There are restrooms near the gift shop.
