Join PP&R and Forest Park Conservancy to help restore Forest Park Park. Volunteers will be hiking up to 2 miles from the meeting location. We will be working on maintaining the trails in the parks. This is a great way to get outside and enjoy nature.
Please bring your own water bottle, wear closed toe shoes, and dress for the weather. Instructions, tools, and gloves will be provided. For the safety of staff and other volunteers, please stay home if you are feeling sick.
Project Details:
The tools we will be using for the event includes grubbers,
McLeod’s shovels and wheelbarrows to armor the trail. Armoring the trail
improves wet or muddy sections of trail. We will be gravel to build up a
section of trail that is constantly wet or Muddy. We also will be clearing drains for water to get off the trail and benching sections of trail to help level the walking surface.
Note: Moving gravel in wheelbarrows can be exhausting and hard. It can also be rewarding and valuable to the trail.
