Volunteer: Lilac Garden at Duniway ParkJoin Portland Parks & Recreation in the historic Lilac Garden at Duniway Park for a morning of plant and garden care. This garden hosts over 125 different varieties of Lilacs and volunteers will have the opportunity to learn gardening techniques and strategies for long term care. We invite all members of the community to volunteer; no previous gardening experience is necessary. Accessibility The garden does not have paved, gravel, or mulched pathways. To access the Lilacs, volunteers will navigate grass, which is uneven. Volunteers will be working in the garden beds that have a layer of mulch and have mixed shade and open skies. Depending on the weather, volunteers might be working in direct sun exposure. There are restrooms located near the track, which is a .4-mile walk, about 8 minutes.
